At the time I am writing this article there are 800 million active users on facebook. Of those 800 million, 500 million visit on a daily basis. The internet has changed the way businesses now reach customers.  It’s no longer enough to just have a website or blog. Now you have to go to where the customers are and start the conversation so to speak. You have to be active on the top social networking sites. Facebook being the main one.

The great thing about facebook is that it’s easy to get something to go viral. You create a funny or thought provoking message, and people will use the “like” button to share it with there friends. As more and more people “like” your message, you will get more and more potential customers visiting your website. Once there it is up to you to take that lead and turn it into sales.

  • The average person spends almost 8 hours a month on the site.

Those are some very compelling reasons to advertise on facebook. When it boils down to it, your customers are there and you should be there too. And since setting up a facebook page is absolutely free, you have no excuse not to be using the site. The key to successfully advertising on facebook is engaging your audience. It’s great to have a lot of friends and ìlikesî, but if you don’t interact with them, they will forget you exist.

So make it a point to post something to your facebook page at least once a week. Have fun with it. Create contests that get people talking. When you do, your brand awareness will increase and more people will start to take notice of your business.
